The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) was enacted in 1991 to decrease the number of unwanted robocalls and auto-dialed calls to consumers – in layman's terms, telemarketing. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) further expanded these consumer protections in 2013.

This law covers calls and messages that are sent without written consent, including:

  • Cell Phone Calls
  • Text (SMS) Messaging
